We began to investigate the resleeving facility that Rajesh and company beamed into. Doing some mesh research, we found that it was a fairly small facility with five or six vats and a modest ego bridge. It was in the Palembeng neighborhood, in a slum controlled by a gang called the "Coachellas". The Coachellas were a minor gang (affiliated, at higher levels, with the Night Cartel) into protection rackets. They originated from a scum clique organized around a particular style of music and aesthetics.

As we planned a visit to the resleeving facility, Li Krause decided to attempt something devious in an attempt to trap (or at least confuse) Grace Dawo: he spoofed his mesh ID, and began to impersonate her via the mesh. Meanwhile, in his hotel room, Atrimedes decided to sample some "Martian super kush" with Scoob.

The party got into the van that Li had acquired, and headed out. Li stashed some drugs within the van (near the engine and battery, to better evade scans). His smuggling attempt was successful, and we were able to pass through a police checkpoint into West Elysium fine. We passed by the resleeving facility, and noted some young-looking lookouts (either adults sleeved as neotenics, or actual kids), but decided we should drop off Li's drugs first. We continued on to the destination of the drugs, a night club in a slightly less-slummy area of Palembeng. As the valet took the drugs from Li, Li noted the valet palming a few. Li alerted the night club's boss, who thanked Li for his sharp eyes. Most of the party each got +750 credits, and +2 g-rep, except for Li, who got even more (since he organized the small job and spotted the thief).

We looped back to the resleeving facility, but were not exactly sure how to proceed with our investigation. Joe Corso decided to case the joint, so got out, and began to circle around the building. In an alley behind the building, he was confronted by three Coachellas thugs who demanded to know what he was doing, and who his boss was. Joe was mostly tight-lipped, so the thugs began to rough him up.

At this point, seeing the confrontation between Joe and the thugs begin to escalate, Li hurried into the building, making it into the lobby/waiting room, where a security guard confronted him. At this point, Li began to impersonate one of the gangsters we had encountered a few weeks earlier: the Night Cartel guy, sleeved into a ruster, whom we had met (along with La Muerte Roja) in Monsoon on Luna. It turned out the security guard was already acquainted with "Unnamed Red Guy", and, by Li's reading of the guard's body language, the guard seemed unsettled that "Unnamed Red Guy" was back on Mars.

The confrontation out behind the alley continued to escalte. Fatu Meaole jumped into the driver's seat, but was unsure what to do otherwise. Atrimedes, meanwhile, (possibly with his judgement impaired by the kush-MRDR speedball), decied to not do anything either, except for take an XP recording of Joe's fight. The three thugs Joe was facing down were:

Joe, who was a pretty good fighter, wearing armor, and sleeved into a tough morph, was able to hold off the thugs for several seconds. However, the thugs were eventually able to shock and club Joe a few times.

Li was also observing this all over TacNet, and PMed Fatu and Atrimedes to "get him out alive and get out of here". Meanwhile, Li continued to converse with the guard, and was able to convince him to hand over information of the five recent arrivals. Li potentially slipped up by saying something about "being on Luna too long"--the guard mentioned that was "strange" since the guard had seen Red Guy on Mars just a week ago. However, Li was able to continue to pass off the impersonation by impling it was a fork.

The thugs continued to beat up Joe. Atrimedes jumped out, waited for the thugs to emerge from the alley, then confronted them with a flame thrower and attack baboon, attempting to intimidate them to stand down. The thugs stopped beating on the unconscious Joe, but did not stand down, and instead Boss Dude countered by pulling out a shredder. Finally, Fatu got out of the van, and rushed to the alley. He was able to convince the thugs that the party did not want to continue fighting, but to just let us have Joe back. The thugs agreed, but they took one last swing at Joe, injuring him further.

Fatu and Atrimedes were able to haul Joe back to the van, and, with Li's prompting, they took off. Li was thus stranded in a dangerous slum, and unable to convince any stranger to taxi him out. However, Fatu made a stop by the garage where he was storing his (very messy) truck, and had it pick up Li.

As Joe spent about six hours recuperating, we looked over the clues Li had conned out of the clinic:

For the remainer of the day, we spent on various unrelated activities: Li altered his physical appearance in a second vat at the clinic where Joe was being healed, and also plotted revenge against the Coachellas; Atrimiedes sought out, and obtained, Kong-X, a drug to give to Scoob; while Fatu argued about religion with his family, and then decided to put in yet another application to the gatecrashing lotto.
