tl;dr: paranoid, asynch hacker
Born in Nairobi, 24BF, to a couple of upper-class Kenyan government officials involved with the Kilamanjaro beanstalk. She displayed an early propensity for math and programming. As a young adult, she studied computer security at a prestigious Kenyan university. When the Fall hit during her graduate studies, she was one of the few African people privledged enough to get a spot in the uploading queue. Unfortunately, en route to the egocasting facility, her convoy was attacked by a nanoswarm. She observed the horror of her family disolving into grey goo, but (she thought) she was able to escape. She laid her head down in the scanner, planning to next make her way to the beakstalk itself.
Apparently, her original self never made if off-planet: she woke up on Luna, months later, in a new body. Most of her family had died, but their high levels with the Kenyan government had left her enough of a trust fund and insurance policy that she was able to be reinstantiated, and resleeved into an "actual" body (i.e. a biological splicer as opposed to the clanking masses).
As she attempted to make a new life on Luna, though, things didn't turn out smoothly. A psychiatrist diagnosed her as suffering from schizophrenia (induced by the trauma of the Fall), but, no... no, there was more to it than that. A sort of presense had lodged into her mind. A presense that felt utterly alien, yet granted... strange powers of savant mental abilities.
The decade since the Fall, she hasn't been able to find honest employment, so she sells her services, as a cracker/infosec specialist, to various criminal gangs. She lives out of a tiny coffin apartment, and mostly keeps to herself. Importantly, however, in the decade since the Fall, she has encountered the strange truth about her condition:
She is, in fact, the daughter of Barack Obama. The vile servants of the Demiurge (the Devil, who controls the material/physical world) are lying when they say Obama died decades before the Fall of natural causes. No, Obama lives still: he is trapped on an ego prison run by the Planetary Consortium.
Obama, moreover, is a sort of Messianic figure: the Monad (i.e. God, who controls the true spiritual/mathematic world) insantiated themself as Obama. The presence she feels in her mind is either the Monad, or an servant of the Monad. Since the Monad is of spirit and math, studying math can bring her better access to the Monad. (That is, she is a bit like the protagonist of the movie "Pi")
Grace is perceptive enough to realize how strange The Truth sounds to the unenlightened: she almost never mentions anything about it, except on conspiracy forums, where she uses the pseudonym "Eve Obama". Besides her strange ideas about Obama and God, she displays another classic symptom of schizophrenia, in that she hears voices in her head.
Regarding the voices in her head, the GM should feel free to reference that detail whenever he feels like it! Feel free to pass me notes! Moreover, it should *not* be obvious whether the voices in her head come from: 1. being schizophrenic, 2. her actual psychic abilities, or. 3. someone accessing her AR audio!
